Aakaar

Aakaar was a one-of-a-kind exhibit of students vividly expressing their creative side. R.N. Podar in collaboration with Paani foundation, a non- profit, non-governmental organization which is active in the area of drought prevention in the state of Maharashtra, encouraged school faculty and student body to showcase one of their many talents, art. The exhibit was conducted over a span of three days where students, parents, teachers, and our director-principal Mrs. Avnita Bir not only saw but also bought the paintings. All the proceedings made by putting our art up for the showcase were donated to Paani Foundation.

Drishtikon

“Drishtikon” in English translates to “Perspective”. At R.N. Podar, we aim to stay true to this name and paint a new perspective each year with our annual showcase. Drishtikon is, if not the most, one of the highly awaited events at our school. Students of grade X work tirelessly for a month to present a never-before-seen showcase of a plethora of talents. For my year in the tenth grade, we worked endlessly on costumes, dialogue, choreography, sets and the backstage tech, to present an extraordinary event called “Aamchi Mumbai”, which simply translates to “Our Mumbai”. The city of dreams, where dreams are built, mended, and sometimes broken. We were truly lucky to have been blessed with such a beautiful theme for our year’s event. The event included dance, both Indian classical and contemporary. It included the underground rap style of Mumbai’s streets. A spectacular rendition of Mumbai getting back up on its feet after the gruesome 26/11 attacks. The daily grind of local trains and dabbawalas and not forgetting Mumbai’s monsoon, which is a character on its own, we made sure to cover every aspect of our city.

Ericsson Technologies

A leading telecommunications company, Ericsson Technologies partnered with our school for a field visit to their head office. I, along with a few girls represented our school in a seminar on the Future of Artificial Intelligence to encourage women participation in STEM fields.

Tech4Girls

Chosen based off an impromptu quiz regarding technological advancements, I represented the school in the Tech4Girls (an initiative that helps empower women and girls in acquiring skills that help them become ICT users, creators, leaders and entrepreneurs in broader STEM fields) convention hosted by the Bank of America.

Panel Discussion

Chosen through a selection process which included presenting a speech on any topic, I was one of the panelists during a discussion on author Yuval Noah Harari’s quote, “The merger of infotech and biotech might soon push billions of humans out of the job market and undermine liberty and equality”. The event was organized by the school’s English department, and I was highly praised by my teachers for my try-out speech on the topic “Do fairy tales affect children’s reality perceptions?”

Podar summit

Every year Podar Summit is built from scratch by its Secretariat and most of all its Organizing Committee and needless to say, like every big event, it too faced a lot of hurdles. The pandemic had raged a whirlpool of suffering and difficulties, despite such testing times it came back stronger than ever. Podar Summit 2021 hence stood by one ideal, “Per Angusta Ad Augusta“, that is, “Through Difficulties to Honors“.
Having the opportunity to work as the Public Relations and Marketing Head at Podar Summit 2021 is one experience I will never forget. As a 9th and 10th grader and being able to attend Podar Summit for the first time, I was so amazed looking at my seniors successfully pull off an event of that magnitude. Thus, it was absolutely surreal when I was selected to be in one of their positions for 2021’s event. In the 11 th grade, I was a member of the PR team and was also awarded the Best PR and Marketing Member in 2020’s event. This took a huge leap when I was chosen to lead the team the following year as the Head of Public Relations. It felt unreal. Not only did I have the privilege to work with an insanely hardworking and multi-talented team but also get a first-hand exposure at how a professional workplace functions. With weekly deadlines to fulfil to securing sponsorships for the event whilst reporting back to my superiors and coordinating with them every step of the way. I truly realised how much effort and by how many people is required to pull off an event.
